The Canada-U.S. border will remain closed for at least another month, according to Canada's Public Safety Minister.

Bill Blair confirmed the country has agreed with the United States to keep the land border between the two nations closed until at least May 21.

“As cases rise and variants of concern continue to emerge across the country, we will continue to do what it takes-for as long as it takes-to keep Canadians safe,” Blair said, in a post made to his Twitter account.

The border has been closed since March 2020.
