Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says Canadians must remain vigilant while curve flattens

Canada's chief public health officer says the curve is flattening across Canada, but warns the public to curb its enthusiasm and "tighten the safety ropes" while traversing the downside of the epidemic curve. 

Dr. Theresa Tam reports 52,057 cases in Canada, with the first confirmed case of COVID-19 appearing in Nunavut. 

There have been 3,082 deaths attributed to the virus in Canada. 

The positve cases represent 17 per cent of all Canadians tested for COVID-19. 

Indigenous services minister Marc Miller says there's a need to ramp up testing and contact tracing in First Nations after a reported increase in COVID-19 cases on reserve.
