Our Village keeps on growing.

Village Media, the local news company that operates this website, has added another Ontario news outlet to its roster: NOTLLocal.com.

Officially launched this morning, the new site in Niagara-on-the-Lake is a bit of a twist for Village: It will operate in partnership with an existing weekly newspaper, The Niagara-on-the-Lake Local.

Moving forward, the newspaper will continue to publish its weekly edition — but the website will be overseen by Village Media, an industry leader in hyperlocal journalism that owns and operates 19 other titles across the province, including ThoroldToday, BurlingtonToday and GuelphToday.

"This is an exciting moment for us and for readers in Niagara-on-the-Lake," says Jeff Elgie, the CEO of Village Media. “We are thrilled to be in a place where residents care deeply about their community and the people who live there. This partnership will ensure even more quality local journalism in Niagara-on-the-Lake, both in print and online."

Born digital, Village Media’s free and accessible websites are designed to be super-fast and easy to navigate, whether you’re on a phone, computer or tablet. More importantly, each site is a trusted source of reliable, fact-based journalism and other important information, including weather reports, obituaries and classifieds.

“When done with purpose and passion, local journalism has the power to connect communities like nothing else can,” says Michael Friscolanti, Editor-in-Chief at Village Media. “We introduce you to fascinating neighbours and celebrate local triumphs, but we also ask the tough questions and hold decision-makers to account. When local news thrives, everyone benefits.”
