I am very pleased to introduce myself as your Ward 3 candidate.
I am a mom of three, a wife and a local non-profit worker. I have a background in communication studies and I have more than 10 years of experience working for non-profits such as World Vision, Evergreen Hospice (Markham Stouffville Thornhill), and, most recently, the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I am an active parent council member and a community advocate.
I am running for council because I want to take part in shaping the future of our town and community. I want to help represent the demographics of our town on council, and I am excited to bring both my experience and expertise to the table and work hard to represent the residents of Ward 3.
What are the key areas I wish to focus on?
Communications and community engagement: As I knock on doors across my community, I have realized that far too many residents are unaware of who their local councillor is. I want to change that. I want residents to feel comfortable reaching out to me with their questions, concerns, ideas and feedback. It’s important that residents have a councillor that is accessible through several mediums, such as in person, phone, email, or via social media.
Traffic and safety needs to be a part of our town’s priority plan! The safety of our children and residents must come first! I will continue to advocate for better traffic safety in school zones and across Innisfil.
Parks, beaches and community services: I look forward to working with residents to develop a plan that puts them first! Additional playgrounds in walking distance, a local skate park, splash pad, youth centre and a better enforcement plan for our beaches are all ideas I am willing to fight for!
