INNISFIL – Effective immediately, all Town of Innisfil public parks, playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks, picnic areas, outdoor community gardens, park shelters and other outdoor recreational amenities are closed until further notice. Town of Innisfil field crews were out in full force today closing off these areas, following yesterday’s directive from the Province of Ontario to limit public access to parks.
Although individuals will not be fined for walking through these greenspaces, they must maintain a safe physical distance of at least two metres (six feet) apart from others. In addition, parking lots will be closed to the public, with the exception of emergency vehicles.
“These might seem like drastic measures, but the fact is that we are at a critical juncture right now,” says Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Each and every one of us has a responsibility. We need to dig deep and stay home whenever possible. It’s the only way to stop the spread of COVID-19 and flatten its curve so that it does not overwhelm our healthcare system.”
To make it easier for residents to stay home, and to provide support to local businesses, the Town of Innisfil has extended its partnership with What’s For Dinner Today, giving users free delivery from local restaurants until April 12. The What’s For Dinner Today app is easy to use and allows residents to order from over 20 local restaurants. Download the app from Google Play or the App Store, or access the service from www.wfdt.ca. Free delivery will be automatically activated once an order is completed.
