If you attended a large party in Schomberg Sunday, July 12, you need to be tested for COVID-19.

York Region Public Health has issued a public notice about the risk of infection for anyone who was at the party in King Township with two people testing positive, and at least one other probable case.

Public health was notified of the first confirmed case July 20, according to York Region spokesperson Patrick Casey.

"The two confirmed cases were infectious while at the party and cases reported physical distancing and mask wearing were not being practised," he said.

The two party-goers are not York Region residents.

The public notice will assist investigators in contact tracing as further information on possible close contacts of these two confirmed cases is not available.

Anyone who attended the party on Sunday, July 12 from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. July 13 may have been exposed to COVID-19.

If you attended this party:

  • Seek assessment and testing at a COVID-19 Assessment Centre
  • Monitor yourself for new/worsening signs and symptoms related to COVID-19 until July 27, 2020 (14 days after last possible exposure)
  • If you are currently experiencing symptoms and attended the party, self-isolate immediately and call York Region Public Health at 1-800-361-5653
  • If you have been identified as a close contact of a case, call York Region Public Health at 1-800-361-5653 and self-isolate for 14 days after your last exposure and testing; remain in self-isolation for the full 14 days, even if your COVID-19 test result is negative
