The Innisfil library is more than just books.

The Lakeshore library has a baby grand piano, stage and public seating area that can serve as a venue for concert and other special events – everything from municipal awards presentations, to jazz performances.

This year, the library will host a concert series in partnership with the Innisfil Arts, Culture and Heritage Council.

The series kicks off on April 8 with the Ennis Sisters at 7:30 p.m. The Juno Award-winning trio from Newfoundland combine original songs, humour, tightly-woven harmonies and Irish step-dancing, promising an unparalleled evening of entertainment.

Tickets are $30 per person, available at iachc.ca/concerts.

Other concerts in the series include:

  • Suzie Vinnick and Rick Fines play Roots and Blues on June 10. Vinnick is a three-time Juno nominee and Maple Blues Award winner. Fines, whose music is a blend of blues, juke joint folk and “dockside soul” has earned numerous awards, as part of Jackson Delta, Rick Fines Trio, and through his collaboration with Vinnick. They share a Maple Blues Songwriter of the Year award.

  • John Prince and The End of the Road will perform Sept. 23. Traditional, maritime, folk and bluegrass, ranging from old favourites to new compositions. Their strong vocal harmonies leave audiences calling for more.

  • The Travelling Mabels will perform Nov. 18. This folk group from southern Alberta – Eva Levesque, Lana Floen, Therry Lawson and Keith Floen – brings unique harmonies and humour to the stage, from cover songs to original music.

All concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Library, 967 Innisfil Beach Rd. Tickets are $30 per person, or pay $110 for all four concerts in the series. For more information, visit iachc.ca/concerts.
