To the editor:

To the best of my knowledge we’ve been celebrating Black History Month in Canada since 1979. This is wonderful, but I look forward to the day when we’ll be celebrating Black History every day.

This is such a rich and vibrant part of Canada’s history. We can start by celebrating and recognizing our many Black poets, artists, authors, politicians, teachers and many others who have contributed and are still contributing to the colourful tapestry that makes Canada great.

We as Black people know where we come from, where we are, but more importantly, where we, our children and our grandchildren are going. Let us focus on that, and let us all commit to doing something daily that will allow us to live, work and play in harmony.

Signed,

Zelma Fuller, 2020.
