BradfordToday received the following letter from Dave Morton regarding the Canadian supply of Covid-19 vaccines:

In my opinion, the #1 priority for our country, including every single person and political party, is to get Covid-19 under control. I am flabbergasted that Canada is accepting the supply, or should I say the lack of supply of Covid-19 vaccinations to us at the present time.

We have had over 715,000 cases and 18,000 deaths. There are in excess of 6,000 new cases every single day. How many  more need to die unnecessarily, before we can be inoculated?

Telling us that we have contracts for the supply of 80M, or 100M doses, or whatever that number is, means nothing. If we don’t get them when they are needed, which is NOW! Not 3, 6, 9, or 12 months down the road.

As a procurement professional, I understood the most basic requirement of any contract is the delivery date. Price, quality, no matter what you write into the contract, doesn’t make any difference, if there is no commitment to deliver when it is needed!

I can sell you 10 billion doses of vaccine for $0.01 per dose, with no delivery date, or a delivery date so far into the future they are of no value.

I can’t wait to see what the Auditor General will have to say about these so called supply contracts. Hopefully heads will roll!

Canada approved the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine on Dec. 9, 2020. Here we are over 1 month later and no one seems to be concerned we have only received something like 700,000 doses of vaccine. The USA has did not approve the Pfizer Vaccine until 3 days after Canada. Yet, despite everything Trump has done to mess things up, they have received in the range of 22 million doses. Not to mention how many doses most other major countries in the world are receiving.

Mr. Trudeau, we have a population of over 37M people. How far do you really think 700,000 doses, (or whatever that number is) will go to get rid of this pandemic we are dealing with??

This situation needs to be addressed now, in January, February and March! Not in April, May, or whatever theoretical date in the future is being thrown out! Stop giving out billions of dollars, instead give us the vaccine we all so desperately need NOW!

What is wrong with this country and every single one of our politicians, including the opposition parties, that don’t seem care about the lack of delivery of Vaccines?
