I just wanted to give a huge thank you to our amazing mayor, Rob Keffer.
In desperation, after spending countless hours and days on the phone with every single health unit, hospital, and anyone else I could think of, I emailed Mayor Rob Keffer a very lengthy message yesterday morning and he took time out of his extremely busy schedule to reply.
We have been desperately trying to get Marlene, my wife, a Covid-19 vaccine appointment. Because of her chronic conditions, she qualifies under the Highest Risk group in Phase 2, but we had not been able to get her an appointment. I was able to book an appointment for myself because we live in a hotspot area (L3Z) and because of my age I was eligible, but Marlene was not able to book one. This made no sense at all.
No one was able to help us because of the complete disorganized system for booking appointments for people who fall under the highest risk group. Even with multiple doctor’s letters justifying her eligibility, no one knew how to book her and we kept being told to wait. Unacceptable!
So Mayor Keffer got back to me with words of encouragement and hope.
Now, we have no idea if Mayor Keffer had anything to do with this or not but we just received a call from RVH and Marlene, along with myself have appointments booked for this Thursday to receive our vaccine. I have now been able to cancel my previously booked appointment and will be proud to have it with Marlene.
Most amazing news and phone call we have gotten and now we will feel just that little bit safer from this pandemic!
So a huge thank you to Mayor Keffer. He truly cares about the people in our community. Thank you, sir, truly grateful for taking the time to listen to one of your residents.
