To the editor,

At this time, we truly need to think of and appreciate the many people who are providing essential services - like the firefighters, paramedics and police officers answering our calls for assistance, despite COVID-19 fears, and our grocery stores and pharmacies, remaining open to ensure we can access our food, medications and supplies.

Especially to be appreciated are our Health Services workers. The pharmacy team at the local drug store. Walk-in clinic staff. The workers at Life Labs who provide blood services, and centres for x-ray and ultrasound services. All the staff of cardiac, physio and rehab facilities, local health centres, long term care centres and retirement residents – our nurses, doctors, specialists, PSWs and caregivers, who provide good service for our citizens in the face of pandemic concerns.

We are fortunate to have these people in place, to do tests, provide check-ups, give medical advice and care.

A very recent visit to Southlake Regional health Centre’s Emergency Room and virus check lab demonstrated the dedication of these workers. They are there, on the front lines, to look after residents’ concerns and symptoms, especially during this very scary and difficult time.

We need to appreciate their dedication, knowledge and service… So, hats off to all these people on the front lines, no matter what their job. They are there to help, guide, and provide assistance to the citizens of our community and province.

Well done, team!

Lynda Usher, Bond Head
