10th Sideroad to reopen this week

'Town staff continues to work closely with our contractor to ensure the road can be reopened as soon as possible – with safety as our priority,' says town staff

It's been a long five months, but 10th Sideroad between 5th and 6th Line in Bradford West Gwillimbury is set to re-open later this week.

The road closure has caused frustration among residents, with some even creating memes poking fun at how long the road has been closed.

The road closure was put into effect on July 4, 2022, with signage indicating the road would reopen in October. The sign was later updated to show the new reopening would be in late November but has since been pushed back to Dec. 2.

Director, Development and Engineering Services for the town Peter Loukes says with delays in sourcing and securing materials, and unplanned labour shortages, the initial timeline could not be met.

"Town staff continues to work closely with our contractor to ensure the road can be reopened as soon as possible – with safety as our priority," he told BradfordToday.

The town will be reviewing the progress on the work later today and will be able to confirm whether or not the road will be set to re-open on Friday.

The closure and work being done are Phase 1 of 3, as part of the South West Arterial Road Construction project

Phase 1 includes Sideroad 10 from Line 6 to north of Line 5, a roundabout south of Line 6, and Line 6 from approximately 100 meters west of Sideroad 10 to east of Langford Boulevard. Phase 2 includes Line 5 from Coffey Road to Sideroad 10 with a new tie-in to Line 5 and Phase 3 includes work on Sideroad 10 from Line 6 to Holland Street.
