Earlier this summer, young business owner Giuliano Garito of Treatz by Gigi, decided he wanted to host a fundraiser in support of the Helping Hand Food Bank.

"I wanted to give back to the community," said Garito.

When he shared on social media his plan to put a portion of the proceeds from his candy treat boxes towards the local food bank, another business owner, Daniel Iacob of Off Cut & Co. charcuterie boards and catering business, took notice and offered to help.

"He inspired me with what he was doing so I messaged him and said 'Hey whatever you raise, I can match'," said Iacob. "I am all about the community, so it's a great thing to do."

In total, Garito was able to raise $250, with Iacob matching the funds for the food bank for a total of $500.

With inflation at an all-time high since 1983, many are struggling to make ends meet, and are unable to afford groceries.

Executive Director of the food bank Carolyn Khan was grateful for the thoughtful donation.

"When I hear about the youth stepping up wanting to help, that also makes my heart proud," said Khan.

She says there is a great need in the community of Bradford for the food bank and is grateful for all the donations from the community, noting the town is the fastest growing in the county for young families.
