Postcard Memories is a bi-weekly series of historic views and photos. You can take a trip down memory lane with us every other Saturday morning!

This postcard shows the Auld Kirk, a church at 3380 Line 6 in Bradford West Gwillimbury, in 1922.

The building was actually built in 1869 by the families of the local Scotch Settlement, but it traces its roots back to the first log church built by the settlers in 1822. Once a Presbyterian Church, it is now the property of the Town of BWG, and a designated heritage site.

The Scotch Settlement is celebrating its 200th anniversary in town this year, with an event at the church on June 16, from 1-4 p.m. It will feature music, cemetery tour, presentation of the story of the Scotch Settlers, and historical displays. Guests of all ages can enjoy old-fashioned games and light refreshments.

Details from the archives of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library and BradfordToday reporter Miriam King.
