Under a blazing sun and soaring humidity, tens of thousands of country music fans from across the province and beyond revelled in the music and the madness of the Boots and Hearts music festival Saturday.
The popular annual event returned this weekend after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. And, it appears, many missed the fest as happy faces dominated the large crowd of people jammed into the Burl's Creek Events Grounds in Oro-Medonte between Orillia and Barrie.
There was a star-studded lineup of well-known country acts throughout the day Saturday. While music is the focal point, there is a lot going on within the sprawling park - including a gigantic Ferris wheel, numerous selfie spots, lots of food vendors and much more.
Fans say this is an event that has an unmatched atmosphere.
The biggest attraction of the weekend, however, is yet to come. Canadian icon Shania Twain is headlining Sunday's festival closing lineup and is expected to draw the largest crowd of the four-day event.
