Bouclair store in Newmarket reopens with new immersive concept

The store's grand reopening event is Dec. 18 and 19 after being closed in July

The Newmarket Bouclair store is celebrating its grand re-opening this weekend with a new design as one of the company’s concept stores. 

The home decor store, which closed in July for renovations, is celebrating its reopening Dec. 18 and 19.

“It’s really a brand new experience,” said Emelie Rouleau, marketing operations manager at Bouclair, said. “We like to say that you shop with all your senses now at Bouclair.” 

When you enter the store now, she said you’ll be able to hear the music, enjoy the fragrance, take in the lighting and see all the textures. 

On top of the new concept design, the renovations also focused on modernizing the store. 

“A lot of people won’t realize that it’s the same Bouclair, it’s really been upgraded,” Rouleau said. 

The re-design is part of a bigger initiative company-wide at Bouclair. Two years ago the Canadian retailer was forced to restructure and closed a lot of its stores. 

“We took this opportunity to really review our business model and our experience that we were offering,” Rouleau said. 

Now the company has 55 stores across Ontario and is working at a quick pace to redo them. In two years, they have renovated 20 stores, six of which are in Ontario. 

The Barrie store was converted to the new concept last year, followed by Brampton, Whitby, London, Waterloo and now Newmarket locations this year. 

“People’s reaction in all our markets is just amazing with this new concept,” Rouleau said. “So far all the comments we had this morning were praising it.” 

The concept store is located at 17940 Yonge St. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays.
