The Bradford Minor Atom AE hockey team is currently entered in the Ford Drills Skills contest, Grow Into A Pro and needs your vote to win the grand prize of a one-day drills and skills session at Toronto Maple Leafs' home ice, Scotia Bank Arena.

The object of the contest is to showcase the team's community commitment and passion for the game.

Back in December, the team adopted a local family for Christmas, consisting of a single mother and three children.  The team planned to purchase items from the family's wishlist, at a value of approximately $600.

Shortly after, one player's dad stepped up and donated the full amount for the wishlist items.

This donation inspired the team to take it a step further and adopt more families.

In total, the team was able to give eight people a Christmas, exceeding well the $600 original donation.

From Nintendo games, to warm pajamas and from diapers to baby wipes, everyone on the team had made a contribution to the families' wishlists.

The team is reaching out to the community in hopes of getting more votes.

Sixteen teams will be selected for a grand prize at Scotia Bank Arena, with 30 finalist prizes including Maple Leafs tickets and jerseys.

Voting ends on Feb. 14, and there can be one vote made per day.
