The Bradford Lions Club presented a cheque to Canadian Tire Bradford in the amount of $5,334.71 as a contribution to the Jumpstart program.
The funds are part of the proceeds from the club’s second Catch the Ace raffle.
Jumpstart was founded in 2005 to help youth overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation.
“Giving kids the opportunity to access sport and play is essential for their growth and development, which is why Jumpstart funds a variety of different sports and activities all with the goal of giving all kids the chance to discover their passion,” according to the Jumpstart website.
“It’s a chance to boost their self-esteem, a chance to nurture their creativity and help them do better in school. It’s a chance to connect them to their communities so they can be a part of something bigger.”
The Canadian Tire Corporation covers all of the general and administrative expenses for Jumpstart, meaning all of the donations go toward helping kids.
