On Sunday afternoon, Bob, Liz and Jennifer Pegg, owners of the Pet Valu in Bradford presented sisters Sarah and Emily Dahlgren with a cheque for $1,000 in support of their charity project, A Bradford Christmas.

The girls have been fundraising for the past few months for their Christmas hamper program, giving extra special fixings and treats to those in need during the holiday season.  Their goal this year is to raise $50,000 by Dec. 15.

The Pegg family has been following the girls' fundraising stories in the news and wanted to make a contribution to the cause.

"What better way to help the community at this time of year," said Jennifer about the girls' initiative.

"You should be commended, this is phenomenal," added Liz.

So far, the sisters have raised $14,000 through various donations and fundraising events throughout town, including their ongoing silent auction featuring various donated prizes from local businesses.

On Dec. 3 they will be at Firehouse Subs as well for another fundraising event and. And from Dec. 4 - 6, they will be at Bradford Jewellery with Peter Dykie with five percent of sales made over the weekend going toward the cause.
