Two polling stations at schools in Bradford West Gwillimbury are staying open late because they were under a hold and secure Thursday afternoon during a police manhunt.

The polling station at Chris Hadfield Public School will stay open until 11:25 p.m., and the polling station at W.H. Day Elementary School will stay open until 9:55 p.m.

The results for York-Simcoe will not be released until after all of its polling stations have closed, according to Jessica Pellerin, communications officer for Elections Ontario.

All other polling stations will close at 9 p.m.

“None of these delays are related to the new technology being used in the election,” added Pellerin. “In fact, 99.57 per cent of all technology-enabled polls are up and running across the province. The few voting locations which did experience issues have been rectified.”

Several other polling stations around Ontario will also be staying open late, including two in Simcoe North due to two Orillia schools being put under a hold and secure while the OPP investigated a weapons incident.
