Bradford sisters Sarah and Emily Dahlgren are at it again, enlisting the help of the community to come together (virtually) for a good cause.
The teen sisters made headlines last year after raising over $50K for the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank through their charity A Bradford Christmas, and have been helping out in the community throughout the pandemic with other fundraising initiatives and campaigns for those in need.
This week, they are hoping to help lift the spirits of those living in long-term care while isolated in quarantine by having community members send them digital cards.
The inspiration behind the idea came to the girls while thinking of how they could cheer up their Nana who is currently isolated in a Long Term Care Facility.
"For the unforeseeable future, our family is not able to see or hug our Nana," the girls wrote in a social media post on Sunday. "We are still able to talk to her on the phone; however; due to the staff shortages we are not able to visit or have FaceTime with Nana as we would normally."
The girls are asking for members of the community to take part in the card-making campaign, as a way to let the seniors and staff members of the facility know how much they are loved and appreciated.
"Although we know that the staff are working very hard to keep everyone safe, the seniors are still sitting in their rooms day in and day out looking at the same four walls," read their post.
The sisters are asking members of the community to write letters, draw pictures or create cards that they think would bring a smile to a senior or long-term care staffer.
Cards can be scanned and emailed to [email protected] by Wednesday, Jan. 12.
All submissions will be scanned and sent to the facility for a contactless delivery.
"We are looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful creations!"
