BRADFORD AIR CADETS
*****************************
Cadets of 37 Orville Hand Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, located in Bradford, participated in planting trees.

What a great way to end Earth Week, the day after Earth Day on Friday April 22.

On Saturday April 23, Cadets arrived at Henderson Memorial Park. Gentlemen from the Town of Bradford Parks Department met the Cadets and provided the rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and mulch. The Cadets were eager to plant 125 Red Oak seedlings provided by the Squadron. Each Cadet had the opportunity to dig, lay the seedling, and place a significant amount of mulch around each freshly planted seedling to give it a growing chance.

This was a terrific experience for the youth of Bradford, they were already talking about next year requesting to plant several hundred more trees.

"It was a lot of fun", "we worked really well as a team", "in twenty years I can bring my family here and tell them that I planted that tree", "I will come back every year to check on my trees" were a lot of the comments from the Cadets.

They were very proud to do their part for the environment and their community. They were able to record Community Service Hours for their participation.

The Squadron is accepting new members, youth between the ages 12-17 are invited to contact the Squadron at [email protected] or visit the Squadron website here.
