Canadian Blood Services needs over 112,000 donors this year, and will be in Bradford next Tuesday Feb. 25 for those looking to help.

In 2019, Bradford had a target of 780 units and surpassed the goal with 806 donations.

To meet hospital needs, the goal for 2020 is to collect 780 units. In January, the donations in Bradford fell short of their 74 unit goal at 64 (89.9 percent).

Due to the cold weather and other seasonal commitments during the winter months, national blood inventory levels are affected and can mean a decline in  blood supply so new donors are essential to Canadian Blood Services.

"Many first-time blood donors say their experience is even more special when they donate with someone they know," said Malvika Arun, Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services.

The following clinics will be taking place in Bradford over the next two months:

Tuesday Feb. 25 - St. John's Presbyterian Church, 2490 10th Sideroad, 3:30-7:30 p.m. 58 donors needed.
Wednesday March 18 - Holy Martyr's of Japan Church - 167 Essa St., 3 - 8 p.m. 72 donors needed.

Groups of three or more donors scheduled to donate together can book the free life bus shuttle to and from the donor centre.

Walk-ins are welcome, or book an appointment online here.
