South Simcoe police are searching for a man after Ferragine Greenhouses was broken into and a small amount of cash was taken.

A surveillance video showing the suspect rummaging through the business around 3 a.m. Thursday after-hours was posted to Ferragine Greenhouses’ Facebook page.

“As we leave a vent open to circulate air, it was easy enough for this thief to get in,” read the post. “He couldn't find anything in the registers as we remove the drawers every night. Unfortunately he went searching and found the drawers, which only carry a minimal float.”

The business asked residents to share the post and “remember to keep your doors and windows locked around 572 Simcoe Rd. We may only be the first place they decided to hit.”

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

In a media release, South Simcoe police also reminded business owners and residents to make sure their properties are secure.

“An unlocked door, open window or any insecure potential entry point are invitations to thieves. Let's work together to do what we can to reduce crime and keep our communities safe.”
