NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE
*************************
Members of the South Simcoe Police Service, South Simcoe Police Association and Auxiliary Unit will be joining young anglers to cast a line at Innisfil Beach Park.

On Saturday, June 15, 2019, the South Simcoe Police Service and South Simcoe Police Association will be hosting Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Days. No fishing licence is required for this event as it is a weekend open to anyone!

Your fishing day begins at 7 a.m. Fishing lines are up at 10:30. The derby is open to anyone up to the age of 12 at no cost. Participants are asked to bring their own rods and reels.

The derby is sponsored by Fishing Forever, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to funding worthwhile fishing, conservation and education projects. Other sponsors include the Police Association of Ontario and Canadian Tire.

According to Bob Izumi, chair of Fishing Forever, and host of the Real Fishing Television show, there is nothing that puts a smile on a kids face faster than catching a fish. “That’s why I love to create opportunities for children and families to go fishing” says Izumi. “Fishing is one of the very best ways for parents and other adults to establish productive and healthy relationships with children. This program is a perfect way for kids to learn that these dedicated men and women care about them as individuals, not as potential young offenders.”
