The Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute is celebrating Mother’s Day a little early, hosting High Tea in the Garden on May 4 at the Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute Hall in Newton Robinson.

Guests will sit down to tea, coffee and punch, fancy sandwiches, petit fours, tartlets and squares, as violinist Kari Martin entertains, providing a musical interlude.

There will be two sittings, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Tickets are $20 each, or $80 for a table of four – available in advance only from Pat Wood, 905-778-1602 or Bonnie West, 705-458-4555.

“It’s a special occasion to celebrate the women in our lives – and mothers,” said Michelle Rich, public relations co-ordinator for the women’s institute.

The Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute is an active member of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO), dedicated to supporting family, home, community and country. Through Reaching Ontario Sharing Education (R.O.S.E.) workshops and programs, the group strives to bring awareness of various issues and provide education around social, health, domestic and environmental matters in the community.

Membership is $60 per year, open to women ages 18 and older – but everyone is invited to attend the R.O.S.E. programs and workshops. Members get in free or at a reduced rate.
