Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) York Region and South Simcoe’s largest fundraising event, Mental Health in Motion, raised $174,000 for youth mental health services and programs.
On Sunday, June 12, more than 400 community members came together to run, walk and cycle in support of youth mental health in York Region and South Simcoe.
“This year’s Mental Health in Motion was an amazing experience to see the smiles, the families, the friends and the community that we’ve built around mental health — a community that says mental health matters,” says Rebecca Shields, CEO of CMHA York Region South Simcoe. “The community’s involvement in this event matters more than ever because we don’t know the last lasting impact of the pandemic, but we know the solution is access to care through programs and services like MOBYSS.”
To date, the event has raised $174,000 including $118,646 through individual and team fundraising and over $55,000 through sponsorships, silent auction and registration fees. Donations are being accepted until July 1 at www.cmhainmotion.ca.
This year, the top fundraising participants are Team Jake, who raised $22,250, Judy Brunton, who raised $15,937, Giancarlo Trimarchi, who raised $9,475, and Susan Mendes de Franca, who raised $9,160.
