Man uses someone else's credit, debit cards and gets arrested

Local man faces theft and fraud charges following an investigation by South Simcoe Police

A 54-year-old Bradford man is charged after debit and credit cards in a lost wallet were used to make purchases at a number of businesses.

On Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 around 12:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called by a 65-year-old Bradford man who reported he had lost
his wallet earlier that morning and had since discovered debit and credit card transactions on his bank account.

Through investigation, police were able to obtain a physical and clothing description of a suspect. On Jan. 12, 2019, an officer on patrol spotted a man matching that description. The man was arrested and transported to South Division.

He was charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Use Credit Card and three counts of Fraud Under $5,000. The accused was released with a future court date.
