Dogged walkers help raise cash at Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides

This year's walk has raised almost $500,000 to help Lions Foundation provide Canadians with disabilities a guide dog

Every dog has its day and that was certainly the case Sunday as the Bradford Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides took centre stage.

Participants gathered on the lawn of the Bradford Library, where they were welcomed by Jennifer Pegg of Pet Valu Bradford. She explained the route and thanked people for their support of the cause.

Volunteers from the Bradford Lions Club were on hand to provide a free lunch for the participants.

The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a national fundraising walk held in local communities in each province across Canada.

It raises funds to help Lions Foundation of Canada continue to fulfill its mission of empowering Canadians with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence by providing dog guides at no cost to them and supporting each pair in their journey together.

Each walk is organized by local volunteers with support from Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. To date, the walk has raised more than $21 million.

This year's walk has raised almost $500,000.
