Families get in holiday spirit at Bradford library

Annual Trim the Tree drop-in program at Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library had crafts, dancing and a scavenger hunt. Upcoming event focuses on multicultural holiday stories

As the Christmas tree at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library stood in the atrium all decorated for the season, kids – from toddlers to teens – were busy, making crafts in the library's Blue Room, holiday decorations in the Green Room, and roving through the aisles on a scavenger hunt.

In the Zima Room, the Bradford School of Dance held a Christmas recital, with young dancers welcoming the public to their performance.

It was the annual Trim the Tree event at the library - another Free Family Saturday event that invited families to drop in and participate in free activities that included make-and-take Christmas ornaments they could take home to hang on their own trees.

There are more holiday events planned, said Andrea Ciurria, children’s library services.

The next is a Multicultural Family Storytime on Dec. 17, from 7-7:30 p.m. Kids three to eight years old, accompanied by an adult, are invited to drop in.

“We will explore holiday celebrations and traditions from all over the world through stories and crafts in this very special annual storytime,” said Ciurria.

And on Dec. 27, there will be a free family screening of Teen Titans GO! starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Zima Room. “Don’t forget to bring your own peanut-free snacks!” she said.
