The second annual Pumpkinfest at Bradford’s Henderson Memorial Community Park was a smashing success.
Despite chilly temperatures and a brisk wind, even a passing shower, there was a “great turnout,” said Terry Foran, the town’s director of community services. “More than double last year’s.”
Several vendors from the Bradford Farmers’ Market set up their booths, doing a brisk business. There were inflatable bouncers for the kids, live entertainment on the main stage, roving buskers, a pumpkin-carving station and craft table, face painting, tractor-drawn wagon rides – all free of charge.
Starbucks gave away free coffee, while supplies lasted. The Bradford Lions handed out hot dogs, and the Leo Club – “the junior Lions,” explained Bill Bargent – provided water and hot chocolate for a donation.
And the first Dri Tri, a triathlon that combined rowing, fitness and running, filled six heats and raised more than $1,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Pumpkinfest was a family event, noted Foran – and families enjoyed the town’s newest festival in its newest park.
