Firehouse Subs hosts fundraiser in support of A Bradford Christmas charity (6 photos)

Bradford sister Emily and Sarah Dahlgren teamed up with Firehouse Subs in Bradford on Thursday to help raise money for their holiday hamper campaign

Firehouse Subs held a one-day fundraising event on Thursday, donating $1 from every medium and large sub to A Bradford Christmas charity, run by teen sisters Emily and Sarah Dahlgren.

The sisters are getting close to their Dec. 15 deadline of raising $50K to help fill their holiday hampers of extra treats and goodies for those in need.

The girls were thankful for Firehouse Subs Bradford owner Jon Chang's support for their cause.

"Those girls are inspiring," said Chang. "What they're doing is amazing."

MP Scot Davidson, who has attended many of the girls' fundraising events this fall, popped by to support the sisters and their campaign, along with Councillors Peter Ferragine and Ron Orr.

"This is so important," said MP Davidson. "There are a lot of people struggling and to see these girls stepping up to help out is unbelievable."

"I think it's important how two young people can corral a community into thinking about their community and putting forth that community spirit, these two girls are keeping that entrenched in us," said Coun. Orr, "It's so important what you've started."

At around noon, members from the Professional Bradford Firefighters Association showed up in their big, red fire truck to grab some lunch. But they didn't show up empty-handed. The men brought along a cheque for $250 to present to the sisters for their holiday hamper program.

In total, the fundraiser brought in $707.80 from the sub-sales and the donation canister set up at the cash register.

To sweeten the pot, MP Davidson agreed to match all the funds raised from the sub-sales on Thursday. For a grand total of $1,415.60 going toward the holiday hamper program.

To date, they have raised nearly $15K through community fundraisers, business donations and their online Silent Auction.
