There are plenty of people who argue that beer is good for your health.

The Rotary Club of Innisfil is proving that’s true, with its second annual Beer for a Year raffle. Every penny raised through the sale of raffle tickets will be going to the new Rizzardo Health & Wellness Centre now under construction on the Town of Innisfil campus lands.

The 44,500 sq. ft. centre will provide Innisfil residents with access to holistic health services, from a walk-in clinic to diagnostic imaging, close to home when it opens its doors in 2019.

It was past Innisfil Rotary president Doug Weber who came up with the idea for a unique summer fundraiser and last year, the popular raffle raised over $7000 for the Rotary Club and its projects, including the Rotary Trail.

Tickets are only $20 each, for a chance to win fifty-two $50 gift cards at The Beer Store worth $2,600 – or take the cash. The odds are good: only 500 tickets have been printed, available from Al Gilchrist, 705-436-4202, or at Decorator’s Edge Benjamin Moore Paint Store at 284 Holland St. W. in Bradford and other locations.

“Rotary beer is good for your health,” joked Gilchrist.

“Good for what “ales” you,” corrected Rotarian Susie Parker.

Draw date for Beer for a Year is October 10, 2018, at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library in Alcona, Innisfil. Must be 19 or older to purchase a ticket.
