Family First Night in the Town of BWG, Dec. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the BWG Leisure Centre, 471 West Park Ave. Includes indoor activities from 6 to 8:30 p.m. – a leisure swim, inflatables in the gym, free leisure skating, a toddler area in the main lobby, strolling entertainment and free airbrush tattoos and photobooth. Kids can participate in crafts, upstairs in the multi-purpose room, enjoy a juggling show and hoola hoop show, and have caricature done by an artist. Music will be provided by David Cavin Fraser – both inside the centre, and starting at 8:30 p.m., outside in Sunshine Square. Fireworks take place at 9 p.m., following a New Year's Eve countdown! Free, but please bring a non-perishable food item for the Helping Hand Food Bank.

The Town of Innisfil, Innisfil Community Events Corp., and YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka invite the community to a New Year’s Event at the Innisfil Recreation Complex, Dec. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Come out for an evening of free skating on the complex’s rinks, an Open swim and gym activities, free food, and a spectacular fireworks display at 7:15 p.m. in the South Parking lot. Donations of non-perishable food and cash will be accepted, for the Innisfil Food Bank.

Newmarket’s Tim Hortons First Night takes place 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the Magna Recreation Centre, 800 Mulock Drive – a family-friendly evening to welcome the new year. Includes a New Year’s Eve Fam-Jam Glow in the Dark Dance Party in the Tim Hortons Gym, with glow furniture and dance floor, and live music by Switchbeat, free public skating from 5 to 8 p.m., free public swimming from 5 to 8 p.m., inflatables, face-painting, gymnastics and more. Outside, free Tim Hortons coffee and hot chocolate, with a New Year’s Eve Countdown and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Barrie’s Downtown Countdown takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight, at the Barrie City Hall. Includes skating at the circle at the centre rink, horse-drawn wagon rides, strolling performers, face-painting, a Snow Valley mini tube slide, bonfire warming zone, food vendors, and a full line-up of performers – starting with Splash ‘n Boots at 7 p.m., The Hillbirds at 8:15 p.m., Craig Cardiff at 9:15 p.m. and The Trews at 10:30 p.m. Two fireworks shows – a family countdown and kids’ fireworks at 7:50 p.m., and the main event and countdown to 2020 at midnight. Note: Barrie transit will be free from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Bradford Legion, 115 Back St. in Bradford, hosts a New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance on Dec. 31, starting at 7 p.m. Includes dancing to Rikki RockSlide, and a fabulous dinner of Steak and Shrimp, baked potato, vegetables, and dessert – and champagne, to welcome in the New Year. Tickets are $30 per person in advance, $35 at the door. Call 905-775-5025 to RSVP.

Lefroy Belle Ewart Legion Branch 547 New Year’s Eve Party at the hall, 1017 Robinson St. in Belle Ewart on Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. Only $15 per person, for dancing to a DJ, snacks, and prizes. Tickets available at the Legon or contact Denis Mainville at 905-727-8912 or [email protected]

The Danube Seniors Leisure Centre, 715 Simcoe Rd., will be open on New Year’s Day for the annual President and Executive of the BWG Seniors Association New Year’s Levee, 1 to 4 p.m. Drop in for a social afternoon, free snacks and refreshments.

New Year’s Levee at the Lefroy-Belle Ewart Legion, 1017 Robinson St. in Belle Ewart. 1 p.m. on Jan. 1 – drop in for a social event to welcome the new year.

The Bradford Legion, 115 Back St. in Bradford, hosts an Executive's 2020 New Year's Levee, Jan. 1 from noon to 4 p.m. Drop by the Legion hall to exchange greetings, renew acquaintances, and meet new friends. Light refreshments will be served. 

Town of BWG Mayor’s New Year’s Levee, from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the BWG Leisure Centre, 471 West Park Ave. in Bradford. Free skating from 12:25 to 2:10 p.m., and musical entertainment by local musicians. Council will be serving cake, starting at 12:15 p.m.
