Golf tournament raises $357,000 for local charities

The Nottawasaga Foundation recently held its 26th annual tournament, dinner and auction

A recent golf tournament raised more than $357,000 for local charities and organizations, including the Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston.

Nottawasaga Foundation held its 26th annual tournament, dinner and auction on July 20 — bringing its fundraising grand total in the history of the event to more than $6 million.

“We would like to thank all of our generous sponsors, participants and volunteers for making this event possible,” said Paul Wratten, event organizer and a Nottawasaga Foundation board member.

“It is because of your generosity and support that we will be able to continue funding many worthwhile local charities and groups within Simcoe County.”

The foundation has pledged $1 million toward Stevenson Memorial Hospital's Transforming Stevenson campaign and Shared Health Information Network Exchange (SHINE).

As well, the money raised will continue to support local food banks, Community Living Association of South Simcoe, and many other local charities and programs across the county.

For this year’s event, the foundation received more than 200 golf tournament hole sponsors, had 450 participating golfers, 600 guests for dinner, and more than 100 volunteers.
