New All Way Stop at Langford and Rutherford

There is a new all-way stop at Langford Boulevard and Rutherford Road in Grand Central.

The recommendation for the stop signs came from the town's Traffic and Community Safety Committee.

"We have been looking and studying Langford Boulevard for a long time with traffic cameras and doing traffic counts," said Chair of the committee, Coun. Gary Lamb.

"It's the main feeder between the 6th and the 7th (Line) and there are some (traffic) issues on it," he noted.

He called it an interesting and beautiful road with parks, sidewalks, and homes surrounding it.

"We have judiciously created a four-way stop because there is a school bus stop there, and also the neighbourhood to the west is going to be completed," explained Lamb. "I think it works there...we don't throw them in for no reason," said Lamb.

Just north of the intersection is another all-way stop at Langford and Aishford Road.

Langford Boulevard is also one of five streets that have recently been approved for the speed cushion pilot project approved by town council last week.

The speed cushions should be coming by end of July and will be located between Miller Park and Mooney.
