Here's a peek at just listed 'biggest home in Newmarket'

The nearly $4 million 'monster home' sits on an 80-by-150-foot lot, and sports an elevator, party room with music stage, media room with fireplace, and more

What’s being billed as Newmarket’s largest home with a palatial 10,000-plus square feet and a nice elevator to zip you between floors can be yours for just under $4 million.

The so-called monster home at 1011 Elgin St., just west of Leslie Street, has been subject to much public scrutiny in recent years as it was being built. It was also the inspiration of sorts for a temporary, one-year building ban council put in force in January 2019 to prevent such large homes from going up next to much smaller ones.

There is no real estate sign on the front lawn yet, but the Century 21 Heritage Group listing says it’s proud to offer for sale at $3,998,888 “the biggest home in Newmarket” on an 80-by-150-foot lot.

The two-storey home’s listing agent, Morad Dadgar, could not be reached for comment before publication.

Here are some of the features a potential new owner can enjoy:

  • Five bedrooms, four of which feature an ensuite washroom, for a total of eight bathrooms
  • Master bedroom comes with a six-piece ensuite, fireplace and walk-in closet
  • Attached four-car garage
  • Finished walkout basement with three entrances
  • Built-in Thermador appliances, including coffeemaker
  • Elevator
  • Office space
  • Media room with a fireplace
  • Party room with 400-amp service and a music stage, wet bar
  • Architectural details such as crown moulding/coffered ceilings
  • Four gas fireplaces

Councillor Jane Twinney, in whose ward the home is located, said it will be interesting to see what happens with the listing.

“They’re advertising it as the biggest house in Newmarket for $4 million, basically,” Twinney said.
