Hey foodies, Savour York Region kicks off October 15

Newmarket's Moxie's Grill & Bar is part of the lineup during the restaurant week that features chains, Italian, Indian, Mexican, and Latin barbecue

Savour York Region has become a staple in the local dining scene, offering foodies the chance to nosh at new restaurants at a discounted price. The draw is the prix fixe menu that restaurants create for Oct. 15 to 28.

For one price of either $25, $35 or $45 per person, depending on the participating restaurant, diners get a choice of a three-course dinner that includes an appetizer, main and dessert. Taxes, tips and beverages are not included. If lunch is more your thing, three-course meals will run you $15 or $20, depending where you dine.

There is usually at least two, and sometimes more, choices for each course.

“We have some different types of restaurants participating this year,” said Nadia Cerelli-Fiore, Plan B Promotion owner who heads up Savour York Region. “This year, guests can try Mexican, Latin barbecue and Indian food.”

But if it’s Italian cuisine that gets the taste buds moving, Savour York Region doesn’t disappoint. The restaurant week was born more than 10 years ago as Savour Vaughan, and many of that city’s top-notch restaurants are still participating today. Castello Ristorante Antico, Flamma Ristorante, La Veranda Resto, Maria Tina Osteria, Piacere Ristorante, Spigolo Ristorante, and more, are back again this year.

If you don’t want to leave Newmarket, the sole participating restaurant is Moxie’s Grill & Bar, at 17390 Yonge St.

“You don't need to buy any tickets or passes, but we do recommend you make reservations with the restaurants directly,” Cerelli-Fiore said.
