Firefighters, paramedics, the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library, the Mobile Youth Centre and its movable skate-and-scooter park – the Town of Innisfil is continuing to bring services to residents, through Neighbourhood Nights.
The events are scheduled for communities like Gilford, Cookstown, Lefroy and subdivisions in Alcona – providing an opportunity for residents to not only learn more about the service providers and departments in their town, but to get out on a warm summer night and just play.
In Gilford earlier this week, kids played basketball, explored the robotics and games provided by the ideaLAB, climbed aboard fire trucks and enjoyed a summer evening while their parents and caregivers socialized and shared the latest community news.
Among those who came out was ward Coun. Rob Nicol and his son, Wyatt – who enjoyed the free activities. “This is great,” said Nicol. “I just wish there was a bigger turnout.”
The Neighbourhood Nights, featuring the Mobile Youth Centre, will continue during August and September – Aug. 22 at Dempster Park in Stroud, Aug. 24 at the Cookstown ideaLAB and Library, and Sept. 12 at Nantyr Shores Secondary School, 6:30 to 8 p.m. each night.
The Mobile Youth Centre will also “pop up” in various locations – Aug. 20 and 27 at Innisfil Beach Park’s Lot G; Aug. 21 and 28 at the Stroud Community Centre; Aug. 22 and 29 at the Cookstown ideaLAB and Library; Aug. 23 and 30 at Previn Park on Quarry Drive; and Aug. 24 and 31 at the Lefroy Community Centre, from 1 to 3 p.m. Open to kids of all ages.
