The Innisfil Fashion Market is hoping to bring a different vibe to the Christmas market season.

After a successful summer with the Innisfil Fashion Market (IFM), IFM will be returning this holiday season in a different capacity with its IFM Christmas Night event.

Slated for Nov. 25 at Grey Pine Studio in Barrie, the event will run from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The $5 entry tickets will include drinks and snacks.

“Basically, we’re creating a fun new take on Christmas shopping as an extension of our Innisfil Fashion Market events,” said Georgia Allison, coordinator for IFM. “This is an exclusive evening where everyone can bring their friends along to shop the incredible designers we’ve chosen—ranging from clothing to candles to aroma therapy to food and to rummage through racks of pre-loved clothing.

"There will be free hot drinks, nibblies, and of course because it lands on Black Friday, there will be an array of Black Friday discounts as well.”

With how well the IFM went over the summer, and shoppers asking for more events, this seemed like a natural choice.

“They didn’t really want to let go of the pre-loved clothing aspect just yet,” said Allison. “Everyone has such a ball shopping great fashion bargains and they just wanted to continue that excitement leading into Christmas.

"So, we thought well why not do a fun little different event? We’re trying to make it feel a bit different too, not so Christmasy and cold, but we want it to feel warm, fun, and funky.”

IFM has also partnered with Barrie’s Youth Haven to contribute to the Boxes of Hope campaign.

“Locals can either make a donation or purchase a box for $50 and that will give homeless children or children at risk of homelessness a gift for Christmas,” said Allison. “We wanted to give back in some way.”

Although it’s the inaugural Christmas event for IFM, if it goes well, they’d like it to become an annual tradition.

“Knowing us, we’re always looking to expand where we can,” said Allison. “If this goes well, then we’d love to keep improving and make the next one even bigger and better. This is really a trial run to see if Christmas markets suit us and if the locals love them. If that’s the case, then that’s amazing.”

After the Christmas event, the next official IFM event will be in May.

“That will be more so a festival event,” said Allison. “We’re getting a lot more festival tents, making the space bigger, having twice as many street eats, and live music.”
