Jean Walker celebrates her 100th Birthday

Bradford resident is 100 years young

Jean Walker celebrated a big milestone on Saturday, Nov. 9 – her 100th Birthday.

Sons Rick and Dave Walker and their families were among the guests at the private celebration, held at Jean's apartment in Bradford, and daughter Maureen Blinn came all the way from Haymarket, Virginia with her husband, son and daughter for the special day..

Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Rob Keffer and Coun. Gary Baynes dropped by briefly to bring congratulations from the town – and to remember Jean’s late husband, Brad Walker, a World War II Veteran and avid hockey player whose team, Brad’s Fords, made a name for itself in the 1950s, and played the first official game at the 'new' Bradford Community Centre arena in 1956.

Mayor Keffer also presented a card, and four medallions of historic Bradford, including images of the Old Town Hall on Holland St. East, and the Auld Kirk.

There were balloons, cake, and certificates of recognition, from the Queen, the Governor General of Canada, and the Lieutenant-Governor.

Jean, who has seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren enjoyed the "family do,” said son Rick.
