Kumi Canada in Bradford gives back to the community (5 photos)

For Honda Week of Service, this Bradford business sent two volunteer teams to the Helping Hand Food Bank.

Associates at Kumi Canada Corporation (KCC) in Bradford West Gwillimbury have made the Helping Hand Food Bank the focus of its generosity.

They hosted a three-week food drive challenge last month, and, for the Honda Week of Service, sent two teams of volunteers to the food bank.

Volunteers from KCC, which makes plastic injection and sheet moulding products, sorted through donations and restocked shelves last week.

“They love doing this stuff,” said Joy Al-Saady, of KCC. “They had so much fun.”

To top off the week of service, the KCC team delivered two vanloads of non-perishable food items on June 15. It was enough to fill three donation bins to the brim.

Kagami Hayano-Kitamura, communication co-ordinator at KCC, was joined by Al-Saady and Clay Chambers to present the food donations to food bank rep Bill Silvey.

They also presented a cheque from Kumi Canada, matching the $244.95 in cash raised by the associates for the food bank through in-house fundraisers.

Kumi is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Bradford on June 23, and it hopes to collect more donations for the food bank and the community as part of its celebration.
