Large turnout out for first annual Winter Family Funfest in Bradford (15 photos)

'As a church, we feel as though we’re here to make our community better and improve the lifestyle of everybody in it,' says event organizer and pastor for Bradford Community Church, Shane Fitch

The Bradford Community Church opened their arms and their hearts to the families of Bradford as hundreds came out to enjoy a free Family Day event at the first annual Winter Family Funfest at the Portuguese Cultural Centre.

After hosting their summer event, Family Funfest, for the past 13 years, this is the first time the Bradford Community Church has hosted a winter event.

“So, we run the thing in the summer that we do on the Sunday of Carrot Fest weekend, and we thought that Family Day would be a good day to do something for the community,” explained Shane Fitch, event organizer and Pastor with Bradford Community Church.

“As a church, we feel as though we’re here to make our community better and improve the lifestyle of everybody in it. If we help families get together and spend time together in a safe, fun and positive atmosphere, then I feel like we’ve done a good thing,” Fitch continued.

Winter Family Funfest was a great day of fun family activities and energetic positive music.

Games, prizes, food, cotton candy, popcorn, and hot chocolate were all free.

After the kids’ carnival wrapped up, the Bradford Community Church strayed from their Summer Family Funfest template with the addition of live music that delivered “Inspiring messages”.

The concert opened with the acoustic sounds of Jeff Catto.

Catto, a Christian musician from the Waterloo area brought his background in Country music to the stage with his backup singer and guitarist Francois Gaurbiot.

The two put on a lively and upbeat show in celebration of Family Day.

The headliner for the show was the Juno Award winning band Manic Drive.

Based out of Mississauga, Manic Drive has been touring and recording together for over a decade.

They have been recognized by the Gospel Music Association of Canada, winning Covenant Awards in 2008, 2012 and 2015.

Manic Drive also won the Juno Award for Best Christian Album in 2015.
