Executives from the RTO/ERO (The Retired Teachers of Ontario/ Lesenseignantes et enseignants retraités de l’Ontario)  District 17-Simcoe County, were at the Helping Hand Food Bank on Wednesday to drop off a cheque donation of $500.

The RTO/ERO has over 80,000 members across Canada and 2,300 around in Simcoe County, split into four units.  The Simcoe County District had leftover funds that they wanted to share with local food banks.

Executive members from Unit 3, which covers Bradford and Alliston, Cathy Eichhorn, President Paul Healy, Newsletter Editor Margaretta Naray, and Treasurer Henry Gabriel were happy to make the visit on Wednesday to contribute to the Bradford food bank.

"Units 1, 2 and 4 are also donating funds that they have to different organizations, it's left up to each unit," explained Healy, who previously taught in Alliston, Tottenham and Barrie.

Eichhorn taught in Bradford for many years, at both St. Charles and Mother Teresa.

"We do charitable donations on a regular basis," noted Naray.

The RTO/ERO provides programs and services for teachers, school and board administrators, educational support staff, and college and university faculty in retirement.
