All way stop at 6th Line and 10th Sideroad

After a vote from council members in last month's Committee of the Whole meeting at town council, an all-way stop has been installed at 6th Line and 10th Sideroad in Bradford.

The signs went up earlier today, with a photo notifying residents on the town's Facebook page.

Staff originally advised against the installation of the all-way stop, noting that the sightlines are adequate as per the Transporation Association of Canada standards.

But councillors pushed back, calling the intersection "dangerous" and asking for the stop signs to be installed temporarily until the planned roundabout is built. Since the building of the Sideroad 5 interchange at Highway 400 in 2018, the town has seen an increase in traffic at the intersection.

This intersection will eventually become a roundabout under the town's South West Arterial Road (SWAR) project. SWAR is to start construction in 2022 and will take almost two years to complete. Sideroad 10 will be upgraded from a Local Road to Major Arterial and will require modifications to improve sightlines and driver comfort.

Council will discuss the interim repair of roadworks on Sideroad 10 South of Line 6 at tonight's meeting of Council at 7 p.m.
