'Memorable experience': Wishing Well Sanctuary hosts family fest

Sunday Market festival a hit, drawing 1,000 people to fun-tastic event at animal sanctuary in Bradford

Approximated 1,000 people popped by the Wishing Well Animal Sanctuary in Bradford on Sunday for the Sunday Market’s Family Festival.

The festival is one of many put on in the area by event planner and Bradford resident Amber Campbell throughout the season.

Local businesses, who were selling a variety of items, everything from crocheted plushies to wood art, lined the pathway throughout the sanctuary. Guests also had a chance to visit and feed the animals as well as take photos in the photo booth props and play games.

“I like to bring in all types (of vendors) because everyone is interested in different things,” said Campbell.

Campbell moved to Bradford five years ago from Barrie and decided to start the Sunday Market as a way to support small businesses by giving them exposure through local events, as well as creating something for families to do together.

After discovering The Wishing Well Sanctuary on 10th Line in Bradford, which is home to dozens of rescue animals like sheep, pigs, cows, and llamas, she knew it would be the perfect spot to host one of her markets.

“I wanted to share it with the community in a way that was fun for the family, and supportive of the sanctuary,” she said. “As a mom and an event planner, I look for ways to make events family-friendly and a memorable experience.”

Wishing Well Sanctuary recently opened up its space to host events and experiences like the Sunday Market. Their Wishing Well Experience offers various event-hosting options like movie nights, glamping getaways, paint nights, and more. To learn more, visit their website.

The Sunday Market’s next event will take place at Barrie Hill Farms for their Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25. For more information, visit their Facebook page here.
