The snow has finally melted and green shoots are pushing through last year’s dead leaves – and no one is happier than the local gardening community.

Members of the Bond Head-Bradford Garden Club (formally known as the Bond Head & District Horticultural Society) are hosting a fundraising plant and bake sale on May 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bond Head Community Memorial Hall.

People can purchase perennials, bulbs, ornamentals, shrubs and trees culled from members’ gardens, as well as annuals and flowering baskets, just in time for Mother’s Day.

Memberships will also be available for $10 per person, or $15 per family. Members also donate pies, cakes, squares and other treats for the bake sale portion of the event.

The garden club is also hosting a plant auction May 24 at 7 p.m. at the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre.
