A Newmarket restaurant was charged by public health inspectors after it was found to not be maintaining clean floors in the food handling area.

Sushi Garden, which is located at 17915 Leslie St., was charged on May 17.

Public health inspections can result in charges, which are Provincial Offences Notice with set fines, or orders, which are verbal directions to fix health hazards.

This was one of two charges and orders issued in York Region between May 16 and 22.

Copacabana Steakhouse, located at 205 Marycroft Ave. in Vaughan, was issued an order on May 18.

A fire had occurred at the restaurant recently. Inspectors found that the conditions of the food premises following the fire had adverse effects on the food and operation of the restaurant.

These charges and orders were issued under the Food Premises Regulation 493/17.
