TECUMSETH AND WEST GWILLIMBURY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury Historical Society is at it again! Not only did the society host an intriguing and fun-filled Show and Tell event at the historical Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute Hall in picturesque Newton Robinson, but they also unveiled and distributed a commemorative book celebrating their first 40 years of service to the community!
The Show and Tell event consisted of members sharing their most prized possessions, family heirlooms and artifacts, with funny and heart-warming stories. The new commemorative book, Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury Historical Society: Our First Forty Years 1978-2018, contains wonderful archival material including 30 years of media releases, beautiful program posters, newspaper clippings, and photos of members enjoying various events. This book was given to the Society’s current membership in gratitude of their continued support. What a great way to start the new year!
The next meeting will take place Monday, Feb. 18 at the Women’s Institute Hall in Newton Robinson at 7:30 p.m. and will explore the recent restoration work done at one of the township’s earliest (and prettiest!) cemeteries, Wilson’s Hill.
Non-members are welcome to attend for a $5 fee per meeting or can purchase an annual membership for $20 (individual) and $30 (family). All meetings end with delicious homemade refreshments and friendly conversation.
