Ontario confirms 1,534 new COVID-19 cases today

The province also reported 14 deaths and 1,429 recoveries in its latest update

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 1,534 new cases of COVID-19 today, as well as 14 deaths and 1,429 recoveries. 

Of the 14 deaths reported today, three people were between the ages of 60 and 79 years old, and 11 people were over the age of 80. Seven people who died were residents at long-term care homes. 

Since yesterday, at least seven people have been admitted to intensive care units with COVID-19 and 51 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19. Not all hospitals report new coronavirus hospitalizations on the weekends. 

Of today's 1,534 new cases, more than 60 per cent are from Peel (490 new cases) and Toronto (460 new cases). 

The province reported 1,242 of today's cases are individuals under 60 years old, seven cases are health care workers in long-term care facilities, and 36 are residents in long-term care homes.

Public Health Ontario reported 97 ongoing outbreaks at long-term care homes, 63 ongoing outbreaks at retirement homes, and 28 ongoing outbreaks at hospitals in Ontario.

There are now 12,918 active, lab-confirmed cases in Ontario, which is up from 12,827 active cases yesterday and 9,105 active cases two weeks ago (Nov. 8). 

There are currently 484 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Ontario, which is down from 513 yesterday, but up from 374 two weeks ago (Nov. 8). Public Health Ontario reports there are now 147 COVID patients in intensive care unis and 89 COVID patients on ventilators. On Nov. 8 there were 86 COVID patients in intensive care units and 51 patients on ventilators. 

Since yesterday's report, provincial public health labs have processed 46,389 COVID tests, which produced a per cent positivity rate of 3.8 per cent. 

To date, the province has confirmed 103,912 cases of COVID-19 and reported 87,508 recoveries and 3,486 deaths. 

The cumulative average incidence rate in Ontario is 699.1 cases per 100,000 people. The weekly incidence rate is 65.7 cases per 100,000 people for the week of Nov. 12 to 18. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,837 cases of COVID-19, with 1,747 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,553 cases listed as recovered in the region. Fourteen people are currently hospitalized, all are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has confirmed 52 deaths since March.

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 331 cases per 100,000 people.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit enters the province's orange restrictions tomorrow.
